What's Up Wednesday: OMQG
I love Wednesdays for a variety of reasons. The reason I love the first Wednesday of each month is because it's Orlando Modern Quilt Guild meeting day. It's hard to believe our group is starting its third year!
Our March block of the month is a string block. Leigh has a tutorial on her blog for an X string block which I bookmarked a while back. I played around with my stash and scraps to come up with four different color ways.
Amy took the tutorial and changed it up a bit. I made this sample string block following Amy's layout. Wouldn't a quilt made with both the X string block and the O string block (Amy's version) be fun?
Here's my February Priority: Alzheimer's Quilt. I usually wait until the end of the month to finish and register my quilts;-) I have the OMQG to thank for my timeliness this month as we had an AAQI challenge due today.
We blindly picked two crayons as our color inspiration in making the Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts. My colors were mango and lemon.

I used a pretty Kaffe print for the back and had leftover plaid binding from who knows which quilt another project. This quilt is still unnamed, so feel free to leave a suggestion.
I am so happy that our members made FIFTEEN Priority: Alzheimer's Quilts!!!! We have a wonderful group of talented, fun and generous quilters!! In addition to the fifteen turned in today, Michele and her friend Yumi made another four for February, and Jodi joined the $1,000 Promise group!
I enjoyed listening to each member as they presented their quilts and explained their process. I felt like a proud mama! I am sure there will be more quilts made by our group for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative.
Here's a shot of all of them (except for one that still needs a few more binding stitches...in case you are counting)! Aren't they pretty?! As the Goddess (love that title!), I got to take them home. They will live with me for a few days before they are mailed.
Happy stitching!
