Friday Finish: Gift Wrapping with Fabric
How's it going? What have you been up to?! I haven't popped in for over two months. Wow. I hope y'all have spent more time with your sewing machines than I. I have been busy with my English paper piecing projects, but I was missing time with my Juki. Happily, we were reunited this week!
Recently, I was looking for ways to "wrap" a gift of several enamel pins and tried three different patterns. How many of you remember Melody Miller's Ruby Star Wrapping book? It's satisfying to discover you have a resource already in your possession. This fabric bag was quick to whip up with pretty fabric, a leather tie, and pinking shears all of which I already had on hand.
Next, I made two small handy fold-up pouches from Aneela Hoey 's Stitched Sewing Organizers book. These were fun to make, but no matter how closely I followed the instructions, I still managed to mess up the directional fabric.
I photographed the pouches but will not be gifting them with the fabric misplacement. The small size pouch is a good size for holding wonder clips so they won't go to waste.
Lastly, I made two Wee Braw Bags during the #giftaweebrawbag on Instagram. The recipients seemed to like their gifts, so I will definitely be making more of these.
These bags are so cute! They are smaller than I expected which I think makes them more adorable! The pattern does include instructions for a larger size.
Below you can get a glimpse of the three enamel pins I now have in my Etsy shop. A fourth pin is in production and I expect it to arrive next week. The "she believed she can" vinyl stickers are an extra I will be throwing in orders while they last.
Do you have any suggestions/patterns for wrapping gifts without the waste of paper/gift bags? Please share.
