Pink Pump!
The last two weeks have been spent in Montana with my family, but before they arrived I took a two day collage quilt workshop with Laura Heine at Fiberworks. I've been a huge fan of Laura's since I discovered her Hey Cowboy fabric line with RJR and realized she had a shop in Billings, MT. I have made several quilts using either her patterns or fabric but never one of her collage quilts. Of course that hasn't stopped me from purchasing one or two.
I didn't realize at the time of registration that this was her first ever teacher certification workshop. Our quilt pattern was kept a surprise until we all arrived at the shop that morning. (If you are ever near Billings, Montana I suggest you stop by!) The big reveal is Pink Pump! and I just love those thread spool heels!
Other than the first half of the first day where Laura explained her process of selecting fabrics and kitting fabrics in her shop, our time was spent in the classroom. Since our classroom was located in our hotel, we found ourselves working WAY past the 9-4 class time. No one wanted to stop!
I was exhausted after those two days, but I learned SO much. I was relieved to realize I was not the only collage quilt newbie. Laura not only taught us how to MAKE Pink Pump! but she also taught us how to TEACH her collage quilt method. She was so generous with her knowledge and experience. Additionally, she gave all of us exclusive rights to sell her Pink Pump! pattern for 30 days before she makes it available in her shop and to wholesalers.
Now that I have a few days to myself I can pull out my Pink Pump! and add those fussy cut motifs to bling it up. Who knows....I may find time to baste this before I head home...but let's not get carried away!
If you are interested in making your own Pink Pump!, I now have a few patterns listed in my Etsy shop. Happy stitching,
