Friday Finish: Peace Baby Quilt Club
Two new nephews call for two new baby quilts. My sister and I collaborated on these to welcome our younger sisters’ new baby boys. Benjamin and Asher were born within two months of each other. Aren’t they adorable?! I can’t wait to meet and hold them. With this pandemic though, I am not sure when that will be. In the meantime, it warms my heart knowing they are wrapped in quilts of love made by their aunts.
I did the piecing, and my sister did the quilting. We each think the other had the more difficult job. Michelle is the better quilter, and I am so happy she enjoys that aspect of the process. You can see that her quilting really provides movement to the quilt. I love what she can do with her walking foot. She is the one who came up with the Peace Baby Quilt Club term. It’s become a family tradition to make a peace quilt when a new baby is born. I made the first Peace baby quilt when my grandson Leo was born. Michelle has made two so far to welcome her grandson Landon and granddaughter Harper. Pretty soon she will make another as Harper is expecting a baby sister!
Both quilts were made with Alison Glass fabrics from several different fabric lines and Paris Blue Essex Yarn Dyed Homespun linen from Robert Kaufman for the background and binding. I think the linen makes a great canvas for the bright, saturated Alison Glass prints.
The quilts are not completely identical; there are variances in the fabric placement and different fabrics were used for the backing.
I don’t have pictures of the quilt backs, but I used two different prints that I had in my stash from the same fabric line.
You can find the Peace Quilt pattern in my Etsy shop or at The Craft Table. Happy stitching,
